Travel Information

STGlobal Conference March 30-21, 2012

Visa Information

The Consortium recommends that international students from countries that are not a part of the U.S. Department of State Visa Waver Program submit their paper abstracts as early as possible. Additional information is provided here on obtaining visas and approximate wait time for visa approval.

If you have questions or concerns about travel, please contact us at contact@stglobal.org.

Travel Grants

Limited funds are available for student travel grants, to be awarded based on need and to early applicants. To apply for a travel grant, please attach a separate document to your abstract submission that includes: your name and contact information, estimated travel costs, and a brief statement of need. Details on submitting an abstract to the conference are available in the Call for Papers & Posters.

Lodging

DC has many lovely hotels and hostels in the downtown core near AAAS and The National Academies. You might find the most affordable lodging through your favorite online travel broker. A few lodging options we recommend:

Transportation Options

Washington DC is served by three major airports:

In addition, Amtrak serves Union Station via multiple train lines. Greyhound and Trailways also serve Union Station by multiple bus routes.

Tourism Information

Washington, DC is home to some of the Eastern Seaboard's best museums and monuments, as well as a wealth of restaurants, entertainment venues and nightlife opportunities. We hope that you get to take advantage of several of them while you are here for the ST Global conference.

Washington DC Resources

We've prepared a small map of good spots to have dinner or drinks (green pins), to take in a movie, or a show, or visit a museum (yellow pins), and the major transit hubs (blue pins). These are just a few good suggestions, presence on the map does not make them an official restaurant or bar or other location.
