STGlobal 2019 Conference Call for Student Proposals

Call for Student Submissions

STGlobal is a vibrant science and technology studies/science, technology and policy conference produced by students and faculty from Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Drexel University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and the University of Virginia. This year’s conference will take place on March 29 & 30, 2019 at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, DC.

We seek to move beyond the academic sphere to engage with activism, policy, and art when thinking about the role science and technology play in our lives. This is a great opportunity to present material you are shaping for other conferences such as 4S and for works in progress. We are currently accepting student submissions in four formats:

  • Creative engagement workshop (similar to 4S making and doing)

  • Panel discussion/paper presentation

  • Poster session

  • Interactive artistic display

Submissions require a 250 word abstract and will be accepted until January 15.   Notifications will be sent in early February 2019.  A limited number of travel stipends are available (please note this on your submission).

We encourage students at all stages of research to submit their works.  STGlobal is a student-run conference and is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive environment for students.

If you have questions about the submission process, or need help with your submission, please contact Nikki Stevens, Student Submissions Chair, at nikki.stevens@asu.edu.

Visit http://bit.ly/stglobal2019 to submit, or https://www.stglobal.org for more information.

We hope to see you there!
